Why Lancashire?
We care what our people think
The opinion of our staff is hugely important to us. We don’t just pay lip service to what our employees say, we listen and take action. Lancashire Constabulary is committed to ensuring our people feel supported in being able to perform to the best of their ability and feel valued for what they do.
As a forward-thinking organisation that strives to reflect the communities it serves, we are continually developing; and to do that successfully it’s crucial that we regularly consult with staff and take feedback on board.
Our annual ‘Buzzometer’ plays a vital role in telling us where we’re getting it right and where we need to improve. We are proud to report our last staff survey revealed 80% of staff agree we are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace, 82% say their team works together to improve our service, and 84% feel a sense of personal accomplishment in their work.
We have a reputation to be proud of
Through our rigorous recruitment process we check that potential recruits share Lancashire Constabulary’s passion and determination for making a difference to people’s lives.
We are dedicated to recruiting people from all walks of life with an extensive variety of skillsets so that we are inclusive and representative of the communities we serve. This allows us to build strong relationships, support victims and keep everyone safe and feeling safe.
If we invite you to join us it means we are confident in your commitment to our Vision and Values – a common code of ethics that enables the public to have trust and confidence in our constabulary. As part of the Lancashire Police family, our employees are fully supported to carry out their duties competently whilst maintaining our high quality and standards, so that together we can serve our public to the best of our abilities.
We enjoy the Lancashire lifestyle
Our constabulary serves 1.5 million people across an enormous spectrum of communities, each with specific policing needs. Serving them is demanding and challenging but incredibly rewarding. We enjoy one of the most diverse and interesting regions in the UK, and no day is the same – not only in terms of the public and people we serve and work alongside, but also the location and food.
In the midst of Lancashire’s vast countryside, you will discover the undulating rivers and hills of the Ribble Valley and the bustling cities of Preston and Lancaster. Beyond the stunning rural and urban landscapes are spectacular stretches of coastline boasting a wonderful mix of beach resorts, from the rollercoaster world of Blackpool to the laid back charm of Lytham St Annes. Our culinary specialities feature the staple dishes of Lancashire Hot Pot, Butter Pie and Chorley Cake; seafood including shrimps from the Ribble Estuary and fish from Fleetwood; along with more unusual delights such as goat’s cheese from Preston.
Once you get a real taste of Lancashire you won’t want to work anywhere else.
